The City of Baguio is a
highly urbanized city located in northern Luzon in the
Philippines. Baguio has a presidential mansion, as well as
supreme court and legislative offices and is the seat of
government of the Cordillera Administrative Region. The name
of the city is derived from the word bagiw in Ibaloi,
the indigenous language of the Benguet Region, meaning
'moss'. The city is at an altitude of approximately 1500
meters in a moist tropical pine forest.
Because of it's comparatively mild climate Baguio is nicknamed the "Summer Capital of the Philippines". Owing to its high elevation and altitude, temperatures in the city are much lower than the normal for most of the rest of the country. During December the average from 14 to 23 degrees C.

is located about 10 minutes
out of town. It is normally
used by smaller aircraft and
helicopters due to its short
runway, flights are also
confined to early day light
hours as visibility drops
due to the onset of evening
fog. Driving 250kms from
Manila takes approx.6 hours.
