Isabela is the second largest province of the Philippines. It is located in the Cagayan Valley Region in Luzon. Its capital is Ilagan (not to be linked to it's name sake in Mindanao) and borders, clockwise from the south, Aurora, Quirino, Nueva Vizcaya, Ifugao, Mountain Province, Kalinga, and Cagayan.
Rice and corn are the major agricultural industries in Isabela where most of the economy is derived as farming is highly mechanized and most of the lands are irrigated, fishing and tourism play a lesser role. Isabela is home to one of the world’s largest low-altitude rainforests, with numerous unknown species of flora and fauna with exceptional biological diversity. The area is popularly known as the Northern Sierra Madre Natural Park. Isabela has 600,000 hectares of the Cagayan Valley’s 900,000 hectares of forest cover.
