The province of Aklan is located in the northwestern part of the island of Panay. It's economy is derived from agriculture with products such as rice, maize, coconuts, and cut flowers. Tourism with the famous white sandy beaches of Boracay and ocean fishing are also an important source of income, Rattan furnature is manufactured here for export.

The province of Antique and Capiz are located in the western and northern parts of the island of Panay with a long mountain range of which Mt. Madia-as is the highest it is also a dormant volcano with lakes, hot springs and waterfalls. The population is mostly descended from immigrants from Borneo who arrived long before the Spaniards. Agriculture is the source of the economy with sugar and coconuts the main source, ocean fishing and seaweed harvesting is also important here as is marble and gemstones mining. Tourism has a huge potential in these areas.
